Therapeutic (Relaxation) Massage
Therapeutic massage is a nurturing hands on full body massage of medium pressure which helps to relieve stress and tension. It also improves circulation, muscle tone and promotes total mind and body relaxation.
Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage is a firm pressure massage which helps with muscular pain, restricted range of movement and soft tissue problems as well as general well-being. Our therapists at Melbourne Street Massage can incorporate remedial massage with sports massage and trigger point therapy to release deep tension within your body, relieving injuries, muscular aches and pains.

Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger point therapy is the application of pressure to trigger points, or hypersensitive areas in the soft tissue, caused by tension within muscle fibres. Often these trigger points result in referred pain in another part of the body. For example, shoulder pain can result in tingling in the fingers or low back pain producing sciatic pain. Locating and releasing these trigger points can reduce or eliminate pain and discomfort.
Sports (Deep Tissue)
Sports massage is specifically tailored to sporting injuries or prevention of injuries. Our therapists can incorporate vigorous massage and stretching to help the body cope with strenuous exercise.

Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy massage is a nurturing full body massage to relieve muscle cramps. It calms the nervous system which indirectly helps calm baby and assists with the prevention of low pack pain associated with the change.
Shiatsu
According to the oriental therapy of shiatsu, good health is maintained by the energy of life, or chi, that flows through the body along channels known as meridians. Each meridian affects a major organ and its related functions. When the body experiences stress or illness, the chi is disrupted. Pressing firmly on the skin at precise points along the meridians restores its flow and promotes well-being.

Myofascial
Myofascial Release technique is a hands on therapy involving gentle sustained pressure applied into the myofascial connective tissue with the aim of eliminating pain, restoring movement and promoting flexibility. The technique is applied with low force slowly to help create elongation of the fascia. No oil is used with this technique.
Your First Visit
At Melbourne Street Massage our therapists will ensure you feel comfortable and relaxed during your entire visit. New clients will be asked to fill out a patient history form so that your therapist can discuss treatment options that are most suited to you. It is advised that you arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time to allow for this. Should you have any medical conditions or particular concerns that need to be considered, please advise your massage therapist prior to your massage.
Once you are ready to commence your massage, your therapist will give you privacy to undress and lie on the massage table. You will be professionally draped at all times and water and soft music are available to ensure you are comfortable and relaxed. As aromatic oils and creams may be used during your massage, if you have allergies, please advise your therapist.
At the end of your massage, your therapist will give you privacy to dress and may suggest home exercises or follow up appointments if necessary. It is important you drink plenty of water following your massage to allow any toxins to be flushed from your system.
